James Li is a professional violinist and violin teacher in Cheltenham. From September 2026, he will undertake the Artist Diploma in Performance at the Royal College of Music, London. He holds a Master of Arts in Violin Performance with Distinction from Mozarteum University Salzburg, Austria, where he also completed a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Violin Performance with First-Class Honours.He has performed internationally as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician across Europe, Asia and North America. His conservatoire training and professional performance experience inform a structured, technically secure and musically engaged approach to tuition.His principal teachers include Adrian Levine, Wonji Kim-Ozim and Pierre Amoyal.

Who are lessons suitable for?
Lessons are best suited to students who already have some foundation on the violin and are able to read music. Enquiries are particularly welcome from students around ABRSM Grade 4 or 5 and above, post-Grade 8 students, and serious adult learners returning to the violin.
Do you teach complete beginners?
At present, James is mainly accepting students with previous playing experience rather than complete beginners.
What safeguarding arrangements are in place?
James has completed Safeguarding in Music Education training and is committed to providing a safe, respectful and professional learning environment. For students under 18, lesson arrangements and communication with parents or guardians will be agreed clearly before tuition begins. DBS arrangements can be discussed where appropriate.
Where do lessons take place?
